Thomas the Train - October 2010

October was a whirlwind. We had been busy with county fairs and state fair and it seemed like every time I turned around Georgia was sick or I was sick! Between a lovely cold, then sinus infections for both of us, then a viral skin rash - I had just about had it! This also made for problems being able to go anywhere which meant the weekend we had originally planned to go see Thomas the Train had to be rescheduled because Georgia's rash was contagious and we didn't think it would be a good idea for her to be around her cousins, Josef & Johan. So Jacob let me slip away the Saturday of our bull and heifer sale to go with the Grotegut family to Rusk to take a ride on Thomas the Train. We left in plenty of time to make it that morning on our train ride. However, when we were about an hour away, we drove up on a very bad accident about 15 cars ahead of us. We sat at a dead stop for over an hour (life flight came and everything). So we tried to keep our spririts up with the three toddlers in the car and contacted the train office. They were very nice and helped us move our train time to a later ride. FINALLY we got there. The kids were so ready to get out of the car and check it all out. We rode the train, had lemonade and corn dogs, played in the jumping gym, played at the bubble table, went to the petting zoo, played at the train tables, spent too much money at the gift shop....Several hours later, between tired kids, scrapes and bruises, and three worn out parents, we were ready to hit the road. They had a blast and both Georgia and Josef were not happy that we had to leave. When we got back we went to mass and then met up with the rest of the family for a yummy dinner at Outback. It was full day, but we really enjoyed hanging out with the Groteguts!!! Georgia is always talking about the "boys" now! LOL!
