One Week Old!

Wow, I can't believe it's already been one week since Georgia was born. Time really does fly and everyone has been telling me to enjoy them while they are little.

Things here are going well. We are finally getting settled in and starting to get some rest. Georgia has slept in 3.5-4 hr intervals for the past two nights (hopefully I don't jinx myself now) and she seems to be doing really well. She had her one week check-up yesterday and has gained back her weight lost plus some and weighed 6 lbs. 11 oz.

My mom came down for several days and was so wonderful. I couldn't have made it without her. Between her getting me back organized, going with me to doctor's appointments, cooking, cleaning and being my shoulder to cry on or being someone to listen to my short temper.... she was amazing. My mother-in-law, Sandy, has also been a great help with laundry and cooking and I know she is ready for me to get back to my usual self. Thank God for mothers - what would we do without them. Here are a few recent pictures from the past week.

Mom ("MorMor") came up with the sweetest song to sing for Georgia. It would make Georgia quiet down and just listen to her sing. It was so cute and was the funniest thing to watch!

Introducing our Little Bundle of Joy

Well everyone, here she is!
Miss Georgia Pauline Tusa

When we were in labor and delivery, Jacob and I had lots of time to reflect over the years and talk about our future as parents. We talked about how odd it would be that when we came home from the hospital, it wouldn’t be just the two of us walking in the door at home – it would be three of us from that point forward. Our lives would change FOREVER. Here is our first family photo!

The Tusa’s

I am so blessed to have such a wonderful and special husband. We celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary today and it has gone by so fast. What an awesome gift for us both – the arrival of Miss Georgia. Jacob was awesome in labor & delivery and I couldn't have done it without him. He was so patient and kind, and was there with me every step of the way. He is going to be such a great father and is already head over heels in love with our little princess.

Here's Jacob with Georgia a few hours after she was born.

I simply cannot believe that I am a mother. It is overwhelming and amazing to know that for the rest of my life, I will be a mom. I am already wondering if I’m going to be able to handle this task, but I know that we’ll just have to take it one day at a time.

Look at her – she is already a prissy little thing! Dana Wilson has already decided that she will train her to answer when people ask her name, “My name is Princess Georgia.” She is already spoiled rotten!

Princess Georgia

All the pictures have her eyes closed, but here’s one where she was wide awake. After sleeping most of the day yesterday, she was wide awake for a good two hours in the evening. Jacob and I couldn’t help crack up at her taking it all in.

Then finally she feel asleep during a feeding, and we got a shot of her on the boppy pillow really quick.

We can’t wait for you all to meet our little bundle of joy!

Georgia Pauline Tusa

Well world, here she is! Finally making her debut.... Georgia Pauline Tusa was born Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 6:31 p.m. weighing in at 6 lbs. 7 oz. and measuring 19.75 inches long. She is absolutely precious (of course we are partial) and is beautiful! Her complexion is amazing and she has lots of dark hair, her dad's lips, as well as her mother's chubby nose and cheeks with dimples! We are so blessed to have this amazing being in our lives and we thank God for answering our prayers of a safe delivery, as well as a healthy baby.

If all goes as planned, we should be going home tomorrow morning. I had hoped to get some pictures up tonight, but we are having some technical problems. Therefore, I will post pics tomorrow of the Tusa family!

Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, love and support during this special time in our lives. We can't wait for you to meet her!

Latest Baby Update

Well, we had our doctor's appt. on Friday. Dialated between a 2 and 3 now. Baby still a little high, but doctor bet us his paycheck that we'd have the baby between now and Friday. He sure is brave on his predictions! We made it through the hurricane with just some wind a maybe an inch of rain, so we are thankful Baby Tusa was able to hang on until the bad weather moved out of here! Next appt. is on Tuesday, so I will keep you updated on what's happening!

It won't be long!

Doctor visit was yesterday and I'm officially 37 weeks along. Shockingly, Dr. Gayle said I'm dialated to a 2 and told us we'd be parents in 7 to 10 days! He also mentioned that with the big weather change coming up (Hurricane Ike), crazy weather brings in babies. What happened to October 1st? I guess little Miss Tusa wants to make her debut a bit earlier than we thought. But who knows... it may be later than 10 days as well. We will find out more on our appointment Friday morning and I'll post the news when we have an update! Please pray for us - I can't believe that we'll have our little one soon!

Enjoying being an Aunt

I was fortunate enough to get to see one of my nieces, Laurel, and my twin nephews, Josef and Johan when Jennifer & Judith came in for the baby shower this weekend. They are all growing so much and I can't believe that Laurel just started 3rd grade and the twins will be one in October! Here's a few fun snapshots from the weekend!

Overwhelmed!

What an awesome weekend. Saturday was the baby shower held in honor of Baby Tusa. It was so beautiful and she got so much awesome and useful things! Over 45 people attended and it took me two hours to open everything. The food was spectacular and it meant so much to have my family and friends attend. I can't thank the ten hostesses enough for for all the hard work you put into making this baby shower possible. A special thanks to Karen Garbett for opening her beautiful home to us. 9 of the 10 hostesses were able to be there.
It is overwhelming to have such love and support and I can't let you all know how much I appreciate everything. God has truly blessed Jacob and I and we can't wait for the arrival of our baby girl. A few pics from the big day...
