Happy Valentine's Day (early!)

I hope all of you have a wonderful Valentine's Day! I am blogging tonight from the comfort of my living room as I spend time with my little Valentine. She is frustrated because she can roll over to her tummy but can't figure out why she can't get back over to lie on her back. I am trying to help show her how it works, but one of her arms just can't quite get positioned just right yet.

I did get a few pictures of her in all her valentine attire, so here they are...

Checking out the camera

Unfortunately my other Valentine and I won't get to be together for the big holiday, so I am going to spend part of the day tomorrow at Jacob's grandmother's family reunion and then tomorrow afternoon I plan to go to the movies to see "Confessions of a Shopaholic". I am soooo excited about this because I have read all of Sophie Kinsella's books, including the Shopaholic series, which I highly recommend. Johnna is the one who introduced me to this author in the first book I read, "Can You Keep a Secret". All of her books are great and I can't wait to see this movie!!!

Georgia's 4 month Appointment

Georgia had her four month check up on January 20th. She weighed in at 16 pounds and 13 ounces. She had a rough time at the appointment and cried at each of the three people who came into the room during the visit. I think she knew something was up and that she remembered that this was a place she didn't like. She received some shots and the crying didn't last too terribly long. Dr. Henderson told me I could begin offering her cereal and baby food. Here are a few pictures of Georgia's first experience with cereal. She loved it and opened her mouth up right away for the spoon.

To date, Georgia has had prunes, green beans and carrots. She loved the prunes and carrots, but green beans weren't her favorite. Next up either squash or peas... we'll see how they go!

Quick Trip Home

I took a quick trip home last weekend to judge the cattle show at the Shackelford County Livestock Show. I also had the pleasure of judging swine, sheep and goat showmanship!

This was my first trip with me driving with Georgia by myself. Four hours and she did awesome! On my way there, I stopped in Cisco to see my great-aunt, Belva (my Papaw's sister). She recently became a great-grandmother to my cousin's baby boy, Gatlin.

Here are several pictures of our visit. This one's of me, Georgia and Aunt Belva.

Gatlin and Georgia meeting for the first time

Gatlin was watching Baby Einstein when we got there. Let's just say she was hooked!

While judging the show, Mom and Grandma took care of Miss Georgia. She was pretty good for them (so they say!). Here she is with Grandma.

She is still trying to figure out her Pop's deep voice. She really started warming up to him by the end of the weekend. As you will read in another post, Georgia is trying cereal and baby food now. Here she is with her first green bean experience. She acted like she liked them at first, but after a few spoons she started tasting something she didn't quite like!

Trip to Carrizo Springs

We did take a quick trip to Carrizo Springs earlier in the month for the Dimmit County Livestock Show. We so enjoyed visiting Dana (Gemma) and Pete. It was a successful weekend as two of the calves we had sold there won Champion and Reserve Champion Steers.

Georgia with Gemma

Dana and her sister, Megan, fought over Georgia.
Dana pretty much won that battle every time - go figure!

On Saturday, prior to the auction, we were able to attend the dedication of the 4-H building in Charlie's memory. Dana and Pete gave money to remodel the 4-H building which was in need of ALOT of work. It turned out very very nice and it was such a generous thing for them to do. So many can benefit from the updates in the building. It doesn't seem like almost a year since Charlie left us all so suddenly. He is greatly missed and we think about him each and every day.

Hello Blogger Land!

I'm back... I've been out of blogger world for a few weeks. It has been crazy the past month. January is always crazy for us because we are getting prepared for the Fort Worth Stock Show. It is very hectic because we always have a large number of steers to get clipped and of course a ton of guys here helping to get everything done.

Here's an update on the past month...

We had Jeremy from Arkansas, Brelan from Georgia, Ryan from Illinois, as well as Casey and Tyler from Iowa here to help us for the past two weeks. Between shuttling them to and from the airport to cooking at least two meals a day all while taking care of Georiga, I just about pulled my hair out. I have to give a big thank you to my mother-in-law who helped keep Georgia on numberous occasions and took care of the guys for the weekend I went to my parents to judge the Shackelford County Show.

Let's just say I have lost a little motivation in the kitchen. I cooked for an average of 9 people per meal. I even had a menu planned so I could eliminate too many grocery shopping trips! I was pretty proud of myself on how everything worked out. I was so glad when we finally all went to Fort Worth because it meant we could eat dinner out (except that it was expensive to feed everyone!).

As for Georgia... she has really changed in the past couple of weeks. Lots of jibber jabber. Today she rolled over. She is really drolling so I am thinking a tooth is on the horizon. She is really developing a personality and is a happy baby with the exception of hunger. She went with me to Fort Worth and loved smiling at people and riding in the stroller. She did let everyone know she was watching the show a few times and how hungry she was. It was great to see lots of friends who hadn't met Georgia yet.

Unfortunately, while at Fort Worth, Jacob came down with the lovely FLU. Ugh. All I can say is mark my word, I will from now on take a flu shot every year. I will also have to make him too. I have been using a massive amount of Lysol and washing my hands nonstop since he became ill. He has been in confinement in our bedroom/bathroom. I know it kills him to be away from Georgia but we really don't want to get sick so we just stay away. He is better tonight and he doesn't have fever anymore, just a nasty cough.

I have lots of pictures to post from the past few weeks so bear with me as I get them up. I plan to be a better blogger from now on and I'm sorry it took me so long to give you guys an update!
