Vegas 2009

For the past few years we have gone to the NFR in Vegas. We really enjoy this trip and each time we've been for NFR my parents and family friends, Ronnie & Diane Wood, all go at the same time. Last year Jacob & I didn't go because Georgia was so young and so we were pretty excited to get to go this year. This year my oldest sister, Jennifer and her husband Tom, as well as our friends Larry & Melanie Nixon all went at the same time as well. It just so happened that another couple and friends of ours, John & Tuesday Embry, were there during the same time. This made it really fun because we all would get together during the evenings to eat, go to the rodeo or gamble for a bit.
This may be one of the funnest Vegas trips we had. Mostly for the entertainment of our friends who made us laugh quite often. Here are some highlights of our trip...
-LOVED, LOVED Brooks & Dunn! They were awesome!!! Special thanks to Mom & Dad!
-Biggest joke when Larry Nixon became "Tommy Brown, Slots Executive Director, Hilton...this was so darn funny that we are still calling him Tommy. Long story.
-Enjoyed watching family and friends (no names mentioned) who loved cranberry & crown - you know who you are; Probably set a record ordered at one time at the Grand Lux
-When Tuesday Embry told me she was "really worried" when we arrived at the Mandalay Bay to go to the Red Square. I think she was wondering how she got roped into hanging out with us for the night. HA!
-Best meal... definitely the Delmonico at the Palazzo. So yummy and special thanks to the Embry's!
-Most fun gambling... night us & the Nixons went to Slots R Fun and couldn't get a spot on the $1 or $2 tables so we headed over to Circus Circus to play on the $5 tables. Jacob got on a roll and won some. This was the longest he sat at one spot - usually he drifts around the casino and I can't ever keep up with where he is.
-Most laughter... I can't decide on this one but some of the funniest moments of our trip include Larry speaking on behalf of the Asian Dealer (I won't go into detail on this one but I almost peed in my pants it was so funny), of course "Tommy Brown", watching Larry put on the flower hat at the Mirage (for Larry's sake I am not posted the photo of this), seeing my sister tell me how we need to go find a place to dance, witnessing how loud our group was at the Mandalay Bay and how much louder we got after the Canadians got to know us, and the list goes on and on!
-My favorite thing about the whole trip - seeing my parents happy. I was so so proud of my Dad for stepping it up and going to Vegas only five weeks after his major surgery. He is my hero. You would never even know it when you look at him and I am amazed at how he has bounced back and pushed on stronger and stronger every day. Mom has been through so much with him and I know it was great for both of them to get away and get their minds off of everything. I think they had a great time and they are already planning next year's trip.... real troopers don't you think?
